A Must Read Just like cold and snowy days of winter, hot and sultry ones of summer are perfect
to snuggle in with a good book. Actually, once the daily detritus of chores and tasks are taken care of, any day of the year
is. But when the temperature hits the 90-degree mark outside, I do nothing else but pump up the A/C, turn off the phone, and
settle inside with, hopefully, a cool novel.
Cascade: A Novel by Maryanne O'Hara is more than a cool summer read. It is, literally and literarily, a portrait of a women painter caught
between loyalty to her husband and community and commitment to her art. This psychologically-bent historical novel is set
during the Great Depression in the small Massachusetts town of Cascade which is about to be flooded out in order to build
a reservoir. Our misguided protagonist stirs up her neighbors with promises to save the town along with her beloved father's
theatre. What happens to her and Cascade because of her actions became for me a great read on a hot and humid afternoon.
Please follow the link to www.authorexposure.com and read my review comments. This first novel is a must summer read for every serious connoisseur of good literature.
